How to Style... Black Espadrille Wedges

Hello again!

So the second blog in the 'How to Style' series is gong to be about black espadrille wedges. My wedges are from Zara and I've worn them in now so they are super comfy, but they didn't come that way! These are mostly summer outfits as you don't tend to wear espadrilles in winter but some can be tweaked for the colder weather. This blog post really made me realise that all my clothing is from Zara and H&M!

1.  Wedding Guest/ Special Occasion

THIS DRESS! I love this dress so much. It's from H&M last S/S collection and I wanted it as soon as I saw it. The colour is so bright and beautiful and mixes so well with other colours. I saw so many great ways to style it and different colours to style it with on Instagram last year. Emerald green goes really nicely as well as red but I quite like to style it with black. I wish I had got this dress in size S because this M is quite big but I still love it. I styled it quite simply with the wedges, a really cute summer Zara bag from a couple of years ago and my classic black sunnies. I didn't want to add anything too dramatic as the dress is already quite a big stand-out piece. I have a summer birthday party coming up for a family friend so think I will wear it for that.

2.  Dinner and Drinks

I love this dress a lot because it's the dress I wore for my 21st birthday party last year. It's the most perfect LBD from Zara. It has puffed sleeves and the skirt poofs out. It's a great dress because you can dress it up or down and you can also layer underneath so you can wear it in the winter. You can pair practically any colour with this dress but because I wanted to make it the main attraction, I paired it with all black. With most shoes, if the strap is round your ankle it tends to make your ankles look a bit bigger. This is not the case with these wedges though. If anything, I think they have the opposite effect! This bag from TKMaxx and the black sunnies bring the outfit together but don't steal the attention. To finish the look I added really simple, elegant jewellery and a low ponytail. I love this all back look and feel it's a typical Gracie outfit.

3. Evening on Holiday

Now this isn't a typical Gracie outfit but I recently heard someone say that on holiday you can create a version of yourself to suit the environment. This is so simple but so dramatic and would be perfect for an evening meal out in a glorious beach or resort holiday destination. I hadn't ironed the shirt so it is a little crinkled in the picture, but I think the idea comes across. The outfit consists of a big, black, silk shirt from H&M and some matching trousers which are actually from Zara but they look like a set. This outfit is not figure hugging and more on the masculine side but if worn correctly, can make a great statement. The headscarf is from H&M and adds a holiday/abroad feel which is quite in fashion right now. The wedges add elegance to the outfit and even though they are not constantly on show, the woven toe will occasionally peep out and add another dimension to the look. I would feel totally out of my comfort zone in this but because I love it so much, I would wear it with confidence.

4. Casual Lunch / Day Drinking

So for a more casual look, I took inspiration from my white t-shirt blog. These jeans and white t-shirt have become my most worn items in the last few weeks because I have just been playing around with different combos and finding out which shoes look good with this cut of jean. Though this outfit is very simple again, it looks chic and effortless. I included the same accessories as the black dress but chose some bolder black earrings to tie all the black together. I love having a low bun (even though I have to re-do it every five minutes because my hair is too thick!) with bold earrings as it mixes simple with statement. This is definitely an outfit I will be pulling out very soon.

5. Family Day / NRN (no reason needed!)
When creating this outfit, I was inspired by my mum's vintage Ralf Lauren striped jumper and wanted to go with a dressed up nautical vibe. This jumpsuit is probably worn every week by me because it is just so easy and goes with all footwear. It's an industrial/utility type jumpsuit from Primark! I think I payed £25 for it about three years ago and by golly have I got my moneys worth! My only issue with it is that it was black when I bought it and now has faded to a mix between black and navy so it sometimes clashes with a few colours. I would definitely like to get some other colour versions of this and maybe even get a denim one. I added this beautiful red clutch I got as a present from my Grandparents and of course my sunglasses and ended up being really happy with the result. It isn't the sort of pairing I would normally grab, but I like how this blog is pushing me to try new combos.

So there we have it. Five ways to wear black espadrille wedges for five different occasions. I have worn these wedges quite a lot since I bought them so if you are looking for any more inspiration, check my instagram page @graciemariekeenan.

All my love
